Classic Gesture – Domeyer Fined

Has right of appeal against penalty imposed

The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa confirms that at an Inquiry held in Cape Town on 21 January 2023, Jockey Aldo Domeyer was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.10.

The particulars being that whilst riding CHARLES DICKENS, he made a celebratory gesture prior to the finish line in Race 8, the Hollywoodbets Gr1 Cape Guineas at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth Racecourse on 17 December 2022.

Jockey Domeyer pleaded guilty to and was found guilty of the charge.

The Inquiry Board, after considering the evidence presented and mitigating factors, imposed a penalty of a fine of R3 000.

Jockey Domeyer was given the Right of Appeal against the penalty imposed.
