Champion’s Sister Can Run

Serious broodmare in the making

She’s a sister to a champion and coupled with her class and ability, Dynasty’s daughter Statute looks to have a bright career ahead of her.

Competing in a R130 000 Pinnacle Stakes over 1200m at Scottsville on Sunday, the 3yo powered home from off the gallop to win going away.

After winning her debut over the same course and distance by 5 lengths, Statute failed to flatter when over 5 lengths back in the Gr3 Flamboyant Stakes.

“That race just didn’t work out for her. We were only looking for a place. But she bounced back well here. She has class and ability and she has grown nicely,” said trainer Michael Roberts of the Cheveley Stud product.

A R700 000 National Yearling Sale graduate, Statute was not a big filly at the sale but her blood convinced Newbury Racing and Dr Nic Labuschagne to take a chance on her and she should make a nice broodmare in time.

Her breeding and the manner in which she quickened from last in Sunday’s 1200m race suggests she will be effective around the turn.

Statute’s Durban July winning 2014 Equus Horse Of The Year full-brother Legislate was Equus Champion Miler in 2015 and one of the best we have seen this century.

He was a winner of 4 Gr1 races and placed in another 3 Gr1’s. He set a new Kenilworth mile record in the 2014 Gr2 Green Point Stakes.

Statute is one for the black-book!
