Uphill grind and hard work pays

In a remarkable turnaround after a five year ban and many years of application and hard work, jockey Chad Little has been granted a licence and is all set to return to the saddle after an absence of five years.

Chad has been working as an assistant with the Kotzen family’s Woodhill Racing Team out in Paarl and they made the announcement on Thursday, saying that he is ‘an inspiration to many and has shown enormous dedication and tenacity in working towards his dream to race ride once again’.

“He arrives punctually at the yard with a smile and a can do attitude. Chad has become an integral part of the Woodhill Team and we wish him only the very best for the future,” said Glen Kotzen.

“I’ve just received the fantastic news that I can compete competitively again. All the hard work has finally paid off and I’m looking so forward to riding many winners for you in the future. Thank you for your unending support to get me to this point,” responded the delighted jockey.

Chad did not respond to a call from the Sporting Post late on Thursday, but we will catch him up with him soon.

He chatted to the In The Box Seat team in July 2024:
