East Cape racing rewarded for contribution

The question of why a midweek meeting at Fairview would benefit  with a carryover ahead of Saturday’s SA Champions Season launch meeting was raised by an SP reader over the weekend.

TAB have issued a press release in response thereto:

One of the Eastern Cape’s major racedays takes place at Fairview in Port Elizabeth this Friday 13 May and the TAB Pick 6 pool on the meeting will be boosted by a R500 000 carryover.

The R350 000 World Sports Betting East Cape Derby, a Listed event over 2400m, headlines the meeting and is supported by the Listed Dahlia Plate for two-year-olds and seven other races.

It was decided to allocate a Pick 6 carryover to this Friday, not only to drive TAB betting pools on the meeting but also in recognition of the area’s contribution to TAB’s carryover reserves.

There will be a R1-million Pick 6 carryover on the Daily News 2000 race meeting at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday 28 May.

It is also provisionally planned to offer a Pick 6 carryover between R1-million and R2-million on the Hollywoodbets Durban July meeting on Saturday 2 July, and a R1-million Pick 6 carryover to the Champions Cup meeting at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday 30 July.
