‘Captain Should Be In Quartets’ – Garth Puller

It's an early start - so don't miss the bus

The Hollywoodbets-sponsored trainers have provided their comments for today’s World Pool Gold Cup day racemeeting.

It’s an early start at 11h10 – don’t miss your chance to get a Hollywoodbets Punters’ Challenge entry in!

Fanie Bronkhorst

Race 5: PURE PREDATOR (11) – He is doing very well at home and has come on a lot from his last run. I am hoping for a good run from him.

Race 9: LITTLE MIZ SWAGGER (10) – She is a progressive sort and is improving with every run. She unfortunately has a wide draw to overcome.

Paul Gadsby

Race 2: VISION TO ACHIEVE (1) – On the handicapper’s assessment regarding the merit ratings, one would think that she could be outclassed. However, from pole position, we think she may be able to run into the back end of quartets.

Duncan Howells

Race 2: ORIENTAL BOUQUET (2) – She has done well to date and must have a say from a good draw.

Darryl Moore

Race 9: BOSNAY (13) – She is very well in herself and has come on a lot from her last run. Once again, she has a very wide draw to contend with and she will need a lot of luck. The 1600m will suit her better and if she has luck in running, we are hoping that she can run into the money.

Peter Muscutt

Race 3: BATTLE FORCE (4) – He is in good order heading into Sunday’s race. He is ideally drawn to have a good run in transit and can earn to be in the mix.

Race 3: QUASIFORSURE (14) – He has the worst of the draws to contend with. If there is enough tempo up front to give him some luck in transit, he is the horse to beat.

Race 5: DOWN BY THE RIVER (8) – He won his last start with consummate ease. The form has already help up but he takes a steep rise in class. He is set to perform to the best of his ability.

Race 6: ISIVUNGUVUNGU (9) – He is fit and ready to go ahead of his run in the Grade 1 Mercury Sprint. It is his first step beyond 1000m in a year. If he settles in transit, he is a big runner.

Race 10: WINTER FLIGHT (6) – He has lost his way a bit. He returns to Hollywoodbets Greyville where he has shown his best form but will need to show his best to repeat his third-place effort in the same race last year.

Kumaran Naidoo

Race 4: ROY’S T’S (13) – She meets a competitive field and I am hoping to see her finish off her race nicely.

Race 10: AISLING (5) – She meets a competitive field and I am hoping to see her finish off her race nicely.

Stuart Pettigrew

Race 3: WHAFEEF (3) – I was very happy with his prep run last time. He has come on from the run and I give him a definite each way chance.

Race 4: GILDED BUTTERFLY (8) – Her last run was disappointing, but she did need the run and she has come on from the outing. She is back at Hollywoodbets Greyville and she also has an each way chance.

Garth Puller

Race 3: CAPTAIN FONTANE (5) – He is well drawn and will be ridden by Bernard Fayd’Herbe. He is working well and I expect him to run a good race. He should be in the quartets.

Captain Fontane – accomplished sort and could go close (Pic – Candiese Lenferna)

Race 10: AFRICAN SKYLINE (7) – The distance is on the sharp side for him and he hasn’t won over this trip before. However, he has finished close-up over 1100m. He doesn’t know how to run a bad race.

Gavin Smith

Race 2: IDITA (4) – She has drawn well. On her work and well-being, I am expecting a fair run from her. She will be suited to the Hollywoodbets Greyville 1200m.

Corne Spies

Race 6: WILLIAM ROBERTSON (11) – He was runner-up in this race last year. We are drawn badly again, but he is a year older and stronger. He is doing very well at home and his work has been excellent. He is used to travelling, he is suited to the track and despite the wide draw, I make him a big runner.
