The BSA Cape Yearling Sale starts at 12h30 today at Mistico, near Paarl. Jan Mantel’s Millstream Farm will be offering a pair of well related fillies.
Millstream’s fillies were sired by Flower Alley and Twice Over, both Gr1 winners themselves, and both proven sources of Gr1 winners.
Former European champion, and four time Gr1 winner, Twice Over has sired a host of high-class performers headed by dual Vodacom Durban July winner Do It Again, Oaks winning filly Moon In June, and Gr1 winning two-year-old Sand And Sea.
The son of Observatory is represented here by a filly (Lot 16) out of high-class racemare Hurricane Katrina, whose ten career wins included a pair of scores in the Listed East Cape Breeders Stakes.
Already the dam of two winners, Hurricane Katrina’s granddam is the stakes winning Proud Tzarina, and, further back, this is the family of Gr1 Champions Cup hero Sail South.
Travers Stakes winner Flower Alley is no stranger to siring high-class daughters, with his daughters headed by US Gr1 winner Lilacs And Lace and this season’s talented three-year-old, and Met contender, Princess Calla.
Flower Alley is responsible here for a filly (Lot 43) whose three time winning dam is out of an Encosta De Lago half-sister to US Gr3 winner Hoofit as well as Sunshine Coast Guineas winner Crack Me Up.
Further back, this well-bred filly’s relatives include G1 winning two-year-olds Global News, Overreach and Reward For Effort, as well as high-class local gallopers Brazuca and Suyoof.
