Cape Winner Disqualified After Positive

Flunixin (Class 4)

The National Horseracing Authority confirms a Prohibited Substance finding which is aligned with its decision to publish the status of all Prohibited Substance matters from the commencement of the new Racing Season.

Mighty Mac wins under Richard Fourie (Pic – Chase Liebenberg)

The presence of Flunixin (Class 4) was disclosed upon analysis of a specimen taken from MIGHTY MAC after the running of Race 7, at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth Racecourse on 16 March 2024.

The Trainer responsible, Mr P D Reeves, elected to sign an Admission of Guilt and was fined an amount of R27 500.

MIGHTY MAC is accordingly disqualified from the race in terms of Rule 72.3.2.

This finding is recorded in the NHA Racing Calendar.

  • Media release by the NHA on Monday, 27 May 2024.
