The Western Cape Racing and Breeding Awards were held at Kenilworth Racecourse on Thursday 7 August 2014. The Gr1 Vodacom Durban July winner Legislate, an outstanding son of Dynasty, swept the boards with a host of awards.

The brilliant son of Var, Variety Club, who conquered the world with a sensational winning run earlier this year, culminating in the Gr1 Hong Kong Champions Mile was acknowledged with a special achievement award, which was shared with Snaith Racing.

Variety Club was naturally also crowned the Breeders International Horse Of The Year.

The Digteby Stud-bred Silvano gelding Hot Ticket won the Stayer of the Year Award in both sections and looks to be a major player for next season.
