The date for the 2020 Cape Premier Yearling Sale (CPYS) to be held once again at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, has been announced.
Having previously been held during the week leading up to the Sun Met race meeting, CTS will host next year’s sale earlier – on Thursday 16 January.
Wéhann Smith, CEO of CTS, explained that there were a number of reasons for the earlier date.
“The Cape racing calendar has seen the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate and Sun Met moved out by a week and it made sense to host the sale the week after the LQP Festival. This will be fantastic news for visitors to the Cape who love being in Cape Town early in the new year. The new date also removes any conflict for attendees wishing to also attend the Magic Millions Sale in Australia or Karaka in New Zealand” said Smith.
The new date will add more excitement to the LQP Festival, and CTS will host several pre-sale events for guests and buyers.
With less than 6 months to go until CPYS 2020, Smith is excited that the confirmation of the date officially kicks off the planning and organizational process for CTS and the breeders.
Smith continues:
“I expect a strong local and international presence among buyers, and we are actively engaging with several new potential entrants to the South African market. We also hope for more progress on the export front which, if resolved this year, would certainly add even more excitement and a much-needed shot in the arm for our breeding industry.”
