A service to Varsfontein Stud’s top-class stallion Gimmethegreenlight proved the star attraction at the recently concluded Cape Breeders Club Stallion Services Auction.
The service to the former Gr1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate winner, and sire of leading Equus Award hopeful Got The Greenlight, was knocked down to Waterford Stud for R90 500.
South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2015-2016, Gimmethegreenlight had another fine season in 2019-2020, where he was responsible for eight stakes winners, and his runners banked R10 513 638 in prize money.
Second top lot was a service to Maine Chance Farms’ exciting young sire Vercingetorix (South Africa’s Leading Second Season Sire of 2019-2020), with that service sold to Form Bloodstock for R65 000.
The funds of the stallion service auctions will be allocated for grooms and their ongoing education, as well as Gr 1 Goldmine stallion programme, and donations to both SAEHP and various horse care units.so the Cape Breeders Club would like to extend a warm thank you to each stallion owner for their kind donations -they are much appreciated!
