Cape Breeders – Championship Nominees Announced

They won 27 Gr1's last term

The nominees for the 2020/21 Cape Breeders awards have been announced.

This year’s Cape Breeders Award winners will be announced at a virtual ceremony, early in September, with a set date yet to be finalized.

The 2020-2021 South African racing season saw Cape-bred thoroughbreds capture 27 Gr1 races with the Varsfontein Stud bred Yulong Prince winning Australia’s Gr1 Kennedy Cantala.

Other notable races won by Cape-bred horses in the past season include the Gr1 Vodacom Durban July, Gr1 Cape Town Met, Gr1 Cape Racing Presents The Cape Guineas, and the Gr1 Cape Fillies Guineas – while the Cape bred Malmoos landed the SA Triple Crown in facile fashion.
