Sir Hamilton, whose sire Canford Cliffs will stand at Highlands Stud in 2018, made it two wins from just three outings when scoring at Kempton this week.
The lightly raced three-year-old, whose only defeat came on his debut, hit the front with a furlong to go in the one mile novice stakes and stayed on well to win by half a length over Redoute’s Choice filly Briscola.
Sir Hamilton, a 6-4 favourite for the race, has now won two in a row, having scored impressively by three lengths at his penultimate outing in December.
His five time Gr1 winning sire Canford Cliffs has already achieved a solid strike rate in South Africa. His four runners to race in this country have all won at least once, and include Derby winner Dorset Noble.
Canford Cliffs, already sire of group winners Most Beautiful, Painted Cliffs, Cliff’s Edge and Al Jazi, was an exceptional racehorse who won seven of 11 outings (he was never unplaced) and earned just under £1 000 000 in prize money.
He reeled off five Gr1 wins on the bounce headed by the 2010 Abu Dhabi Irish 2000 Guineas.
His wins also included a devastating six length win in one of Britain’s premier 2yo contests –the Gr2 Coventry Stakes (with other notable Coventry Stakes winners including champions Mill Reef,Solinus, Fasliyev, and War Command).
