National 2yo Catalogue is now available

Bloodstock South Africa have announced that the catalogue for their 2016 National Two Year Old Sale is now available for viewing online.

The two day sale, which will be held at the TBA’s complex in Germiston, is set to take place on August 18th and 19th, with each day of selling to commence at 12:00 pm.

Graduates of the 2016 National Two Year Old Sale will qualify for a R1 000 000 race, to be run in 2017.

Last year, the National Two Year Old Sale was topped by a Var filly, consigned by Varsfontein Stud. Named La Roquette, the filly was knocked down for R1.1 million.

One of the oldest thoroughbred auctions in South Africa, the Two Year Old Sale has a long and impressive roll of graduates.

Past stars bought from this sale include champion sprinter and G1 Hong Kong Sprint hero J J The Jet Plane, Equus Champion The Apache (who finished first past the post in the 2013 G1 Arlington Million), Singapore champion Lizarre, G1 QE II Cup winner Irridescence, New Zealand G1 heroine Dane Julia, and local G1 winners/champions Arabian Beat, Asylum Seeker, Fez, Rock Opera, and tough as teak G1 J&B Met winner River Jetez.

Two of the top 3yos this season, Noah From Goa and Bela-Bela, were sold at the 2014 Two Year Old Sale. Bred by Wilgerbosdrift, Noah From Goa (since exported to Dubai), was a R325 000 buy from that sale, and the talented son of Tiger Ridge went on to win five of his seven outings, including both the G1 Grand Parade Cape Guineas and G2 Investec Dingaans.

Super filly Bela-Bela, the top priced filly of the 2014 National 2yo Sale, has been equally sensational –a leading contender for Equus Award honours, the daughter of Dynasty has won four of seven outings, including the G1 Woolavington 2000 and G2 Daisy Fillies Guineas.

Leading sires represented at the 2016 National Two Year Old Sale include Captain Al (4), Dynasty (5), Fort Wood (2), Judpot (7), Kahal (2), Silvano (9), Trippi (3), and Var (2), while exciting up and coming stallions strongly represented at this year’s sale include Bold Silvano (14), Curved Ball (6), Gimmethegreenlight (10), Golden Sword (1), Pathfork (5), Philanthropist (6), and Traffic Guard (1).

Well established and popular stallions represented at this year’s sale include the likes of Black Minnaloushe (7), Elusive Fort (1), Go Deputy (2), Greys Inn (2), Horse Chestnut (2), Ideal World (7), Jay Peg (3), Mambo In Seattle (9), Mogok (13), Querari (6), Sail From Seattle (14), Seventh Rock (2), Tiger Ridge (1), Toreador (3), and Windrush (2).
