Digital Age, the multiple graded stakes winning son of Invincible Spirit, was secured for the South African stallion ranks by Mauritzfontein Stud with the assistance of Ridgemont Highlands and Wilgerbosdrift earlier this year.
Imported via Global Bloodstock Logistics, it had been envisaged that the 2020 Gr1 Old Forester Bourbon Turf Classic Stakes winner would commence stud duties at Mauritzfontein Stud at the start of the current breeding season.
Unfortunately, due to an on-going issue at the Johannesburg quarantine station, the release of the shipment currently at the facility – including Digital Age – is being delayed.
Despite the best efforts of his team to engage with the Animal Health offices at the National Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, there has been no indication as to when matters might be resolved.
With the release date firmly in the hands of the authorities and no communication forthcoming, the Digital Age Syndicate, together with Mauritzfontein Stud are faced with no option but to abort this breeding season.
Rather than subject breeders to a period of prolonged uncertainty, we feel that the interests of the Syndicate as well as all who have booked services to our exciting new sire will be best served by having Digital Age commence his stud career in 2023.
We regret the inconvenience caused.
Breeders with bookings to Digital Age should please contact Mauritzfontein Stud who have kindly put together some special deals to their other stallions as replacements.
- Joint media release by Digital Age Syndicate & Mauritzfontein Stud on Monday 19 September 2022.
