Boardroom Incident: Owner Fined R50 000

Misbehaved & conducted himself in an improper manner

In a sequel to an incident at Turffontein Racecourse on Saturday 3 September, Colour-Holder Mr Lyle Meistre was charged with a contravention of Rule 72.1.25.

This arose in that he misbehaved and conducted himself in an improper manner in the Stipendiary Stewards Boardroom at the Turffontein Racecourse on Saturday, 3 September 2022.

Mr Meistre signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R50 000 was impose

In other news from the National Horseracing Authority, trainer Billy Ruiters was charged with a contravention of Rule 73.2.4 in that he was the Trainer responsible for the horse MISS DAISY when a specimen which was collected from this horse after the running of Race 6 on 3 September 2022 at Turffontein Racecourse, disclosed upon analysis the presence of Flunixin (Class 4) which is a prohibited substance.

Trainer Ruiters signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R24 000 was imposed. Furthermore, in terms of Rule 72.3.2 MISS DAISY is disqualified from the said race and the provision of Rule 67.7.8 shall apply.

Trainer Sean Tarry was charged with a contravention of Rule 10.5.17.3 in that he had in his possession Scheduled medications, ACEPROMAZINE, FLUNIXIN, MEGLUMINE and OMEPRAZOLE which was prescribed more than thirty (30) days previously, is expired or remains unused from or superfluous to a previous prescribed treatment. Trainer Tarry signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R4500 was imposed.
