Top heavyweight jockey Bernard Fayd’herbe will be having a three week enforced break from race riding, effective immediately.
Speaking from his Cape Town base on Friday, 11 September 2015, the popular rider confirmed he’d sustained a knee injury during the Durban season, but had been riding through it in order to meet his riding commitments.
On his return to Cape Town, he sought the advice of a specialist who earlier today signed him off for a three week rest.
“They wanted to book me off for 6 weeks, but I said no way, I need to keep fit. So I’ll have two weeks of complete rest – just walking and no running – and then I can start training again during the last week. I’m seeing a biokineticist in the meantime to keep everything going.”
We wish him a speedy recovery.
