Be With Thandi & St John Today

First is due off at 12h30

Eight races are carded at the Vaal this afternoon. The combination of trainer St John Gray and Athandiwe Mgudlwa team up in five races and the pair could have a good day at the office.

The first is due off at 12h30.

Athandiwe Mgudlwa (Pic – Chase Liebenberg)

Home Of The Brave from the Tyrone Zackey stable takes his place in Race 7 and he is the possible Pick 6 banker. He raced from a handy position over 1450m last time and stayed on to finish third.

He has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this distance. The son of The United States is having his peak run today and should be too good for this field.

Trainer St John Gray saddles Eiffel Tower in the lucky last and he may be the horse to close off the meeting. He followed up his maiden win with a decent fourth-place finish over this course and distance. Despite over racing in the early stages, the way he stayed on at the finish was encouraging.

The son of Potala Palace has plenty of scope and if Athandiwe Mgudlwa can switch him off early, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.
