The series will showcase Britain’s world-leading thoroughbred breeding operations underpinned by a thriving stallion market and highlight why many of the world’s most prolific owner-breeders have chosen Britain as the headquarters for their bloodstock interests.

The series features six of Britain’s world-renowned studs: Lanwades Stud, Tweenhills, Watership Down Stud, Shadwell Stud, The National Stud and Hazelwood Bloodstock.

So far in 2024, 26 horses bred at 15 studs in Britain have won Group/Grade 1 flat races across seven countries. Britain’s stallion roster provides a wide variety of bloodlines to utilise with 12 stallions having sired Group/Grade 1 winners in eight countries from 6f (1200m) to 1m4f (2400m) in 2024, to-date.

One episode will be released each Monday via the GBRI and TBA social media channels and can also be found on GBRI’s website by visiting: https://www.greatbritishracinginternational.com/breed/be-a-part-of-it

The final episode will launch on Monday, 25 November ahead of the Tattersalls December Breeding Stock Sales.

The series this year follows on from a successful campaign in 2023 that featured Juddmonte’s Banstead Manor Farm, Blue Diamond Stud, Darley’s Dalham Hall Stud, Newsells Park Stud and Whitsbury Manor Stud.

Camilla Perrett, Head of Client Relations and Marketing at GBRI said:

“Britain is home to world-leading breeding operations and this series portrays six of those studs with the aim of encouraging future international investment into British breeding. Breeders from all around the world have set up studs or broodmare bands in Britain, recognising the outstanding boarding facilities, welfare standards and the expertise of the breeding industry here. The statistics show that the quality of thoroughbreds raised in Britain is exceptional and it is not surprising that racehorses bred in Britain have won top-level races in Europe, the Middle East, Australia, Canada and the USA in 2024.

“The stallion band in Britain is the strongest it has ever been. We have established world-class sires like Dubawi, Frankel and Kingman but the younger generation looks just as impressive. The leading European first-crop, second-crop and third-crop sires by Group/Grade winners all stand in Britain.”

Philip Newton, Chairman of the TBA said:

“With British-bred and raised horses winning all around the world, it is only natural that foreign-based breeders would want their stock to be born and brought up in Britain. This coupled with having quality turf stallions, including two all-time greats of the bloodstock world, Frankel and Dubawi, Britain is an attractive destination.

“We are delighted to showcase a selection of studs through the series who encourage and welcome foreign investment.”

  • Media release by GBRI & TBA on Sunday, 20 October 2024.
