South African jockey Barend Vorster continued his excellent run of success with trainer Tony McEvoy with a double at Morphettville on Saturday, including a feature race victory.

While the meeting was overshadowed by the Winx dominated news, Vorster’s excellent form has vindicated his decision to move to Australia from Singapore.
Racing.com reports that Vorster guided Classic Weiwei to a long neck win in the A$100,000 Port Adelaide Guineas (1800m), a lead-up race towards next month’s Group 1 South Australian Derby (2500m). The son of Shamus Award is unbeaten from three starts this campaign and has three wins from four starts overall.
Vorster’s other winner came aboard Scottish Rogue in a Benchmark 82 handicap over 1200m.
This means that Vorster has won 13 races from 38 rides in Australia, exclusively for McEvoy, since relocating from Singapore.
