The home side dominated much of the possession at the Orlando Stadium but without finding a way past a deep-lying Brave Warriors defence or goalkeeper Lloyd Kazapua. Bathusi Aubaa and Monnapule Saleng had the best chances for Bafana while Deon Hotto had a late effort well saved as the match ultimately ended goalless.

Reflecting on the tie, Broos explained that he learnt a lot from the stalemate as he looks forward to facing the Democratic Republic of Congo in a friendly international on Tuesday.

The head coach said in the Citizen:

“It was a very interesting game for us. We said before we had to give chances to new players to prove themselves and show themselves. That was the most important goal, the result came second. But I would rather win than lose or play a draw.”
