Authentic Gets Popular Vote

Votes from 50 different countries

Global racing fans have voted Spendthrift Farm’s new 2021 stallion Authentic (Into Mischief) as their Horse of the Year.

Effectively the ‘people’s horse’ based on popularity on what he or she has achieved by gaining positive recognition for the thoroughbred industry,

Authentic earned 5 wins and 2 placings from 7 starts in 2020.

Two of his victories came in the Gr1 Kentucky Derby and Gr1 Breeders’ Cup Classic.

What added to his wide-spread appeal with Vox Populi voters in 50 different countries is that a smallish percentage of Authentic is owned by My Racehorse Stable, ‘a new venture that sells affordable micro-shares of racehorses to casual fans’.

That saw over 5300 owners share in his magnificent year.

Authentic now joins a list of cherished racing stars who have also received the Vox Populi Award: Bricks and Mortar (2019), Winx (2018), Ben’s Cat (2017), California Chrome (2016 and 2014), American Pharoah (2015), Mucho Macho Man (2013), Paynter (2012), Rapid Redux (2011), and Zenyatta (inaugural 2010).
