Rising star Zoustar on same flight

A flight filled with shuttle stallions arrived in Melbourne on Saturday night from Europe.

The International Racehorse Transport-organised flight included Gr1 winner Toronado (High Chaparral-Wana Doo, by Grand Slam) who will stand his sixth season at Swettenham Stud, who counts the impressive local Gr1 winner Masked Crusader (Toronado-She’s Got Gears, by Invincible Spirit) and European Gr1 winner Tribhuvan (Toronado-Mahendra, by Next Desert) among his 14 stakes-winners.

Toronado – set for sixth term at Swettenham

Racing.com reports that Widden Park’s reverse shuttler Zoustar (Northern Meteor-Zouzou, by Redoute’s Choice) was also on the same flight, and the rising star of the stallion ranks currently has 23 stakes-winners, including Gr1 winners Sunlight (Zoustar-Solar Charged, by Charge Forward) and Zoutori (Zoustar-Atotori, by Haradasun).

Others on the flight included Arrowfield Stud’s dual Gr1-winning Shalaa (Invincible Spirit-Ghurra, by War Chant), sire of Magic Millions winner Shaquero (Shalaa-Fimatino, by Not a Single Doubt) in his first crop of 2YOs this season, and Yulong’s first season sire Lucky Vega (Lope de Vega-Queen of the Carthage, by Cape Cross) who won the Gr1 Curragh Phoenix Stakes as a 2YO and recently placed in the Gr1 St James’s Palace Stakes.

The Coolmore and Darley shuttle stallions will arrive from Europe on different flights, as will those relocating from Japan and the USA.
