Aussie Tops The Log

Latest CTS Ready To Run log published

Justin Snaith’s smart three-year-old colt Royal Aussie is quite the hot topic in racing circles following his game handicap win over 1400m at Kenilworth last Saturday. With his merit rating upped from 94 to 97, Royal Aussie has risen to the top of the second 2022 CTS Ready To Run Stakes published on 22 August.

Now a two-time winner from four starts, Royal Aussie displaces Street Outlaw (MR96), who topped the log when it was first published on 11 August and is in second place ahead of Piroshka (MR 95), who drops to third. The rest of the Top 20 remains unchanged.

Klawervlei-bred Royal Aussie is a son of Royal Mo (USA), who has made an eye-catching start to his career at stud. This colt was a R300,000 buy for Suzette and Basie Viljoen and Dr Jill Warner in partnership with Australian-based Dane Squance. Adding even more excitement, Royal Aussie is also a potential early favourite for the 2023 CTS Gold Rush, since his owners hold a Prospectors Certificate.

The R600 000 Ready To Run Stakes will be contested over 1400m at Kenilworth on Sunday, 30 October – and the partnership will be counting down the days as Royal Aussie is now twice a course and distance winner, and his versatility is not in doubt.

The R2R Race Day will be preceded by the 2022 CTS Ready To Run and Unbroken Two–Year–Old Sales scheduled for Saturday, 29 October.

The CTS Ready To Run Race is restricted to eligible graduates of the 2021 CTS Ready To Run Sale, and entries will open at 11:00 on Monday, 17 October. Supplementary entries are due by 11:00 on Friday, 21 October, with declarations due by 11:00 on Monday, 24 October.
