At The Vaal Today

First race starts at 12h00

Eight races are carded at the Vaal Racecourse this afternoon. The first is due off at 12h00 and the lucky last is scheduled for 16h10.

Corrie Lensley told the Sporting Post this morning that there were clouds in the sky and it is windy.

“It is going to be hot and we could have some rain later,” he confirmed.

Corrie kindly took this pic shortly after 09h00 today.

Defender Of Rights is the only runner on the day from the yard of Hollywoodbets-sponsored Stuart Pettigrew.

Jimmy The Rich writes that she produced a promising debut effort over this course and distance, six weeks ago. She was slow into stride and outpaced, but the manner in which she finished off her race was eye-catching.

It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Flower Alley would have come on from the run and with the natural improvement that is expected, she is the horse to beat.

Corne Spies saddles Roger The Dodger in Race 6. He produced a very good comeback run when finishing second over 1200m on this course. He raced from just off the pace, but was outrun in the latter stages.

The son of Captain Of All meets a similar type of field today and should strip much fitter. He is the horse to beat.
