In terms of Chapter 4 of the Constitution of the National Horseracing Authority the Nominations Committee, consisting of past chairmen Adv. Altus Joubert, Mr Andrew O’Connor, Mr Larry Nestadt and Mr Jonathan Witts-Hewinson has appointed Dr Ashley Parker to fill the vacancy on the National Board in terms of clause 15.4.5.4 of the Constitution, effective from 22 January 2020.
Dr Parker holds a Bachelor of Veterinary Science degree.
Dr Parker is domiciled in the Eastern Cape and is a registered Owner since 1989 and as a Thoroughbred Racehorse Breeder (Ascot Stud) since 1983.
Dr Parker served as a Steward of East Cape Racing Club (prior to the Club’s merger with Phumelela) and also as Deputy Chairman of the Eastern Cape Regional Board until 2004 when the Constitution was amended and the Regional Boards were dissolved.
As a qualified Veterinarian, Dr Parker is the Eastern Cape representative on the South African Equine Veterinary Association for the past 20 years.
The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa welcomes Dr Parker to the National Board.
