After being stood down at Greyville on Friday evening, Anton Marcus was cleared by the on-course Medical Officer to ride at Turffontein on Saturday.

Anton Marcus
The Sporting Post was approached by readers after Marcus had ridden Doosra to victory in the Listed Wolf Power 1600.
He was stood down after winning the second race at Greyville on Friday evening, and it was expected that he would be subjected to a mandatory 48 hour suspension.
While we have not had sight of the Stipes Report for the Greyville meeting, NHA Racing Executive Arnold Hyde told the Sporting Post that Marcus had been stood down with an old wrist injury on Friday evening.
He had received treatment and was cleared by the Medical Officer on Saturday to fulfil his Turffontein engagements.
Hyde confirmed that there was a discretionary aspect to rule 25.12 , which states:
A rider who has, through illness or accident, been unable to fulfil an engagement or has given illness or accident as a reason for not having been able to ride a HORSE to the best of his ability, or who has failed to fulfil an engagement on the grounds of illness or accident, shall not, except with the permission of the SB, be entitled to ride a HORSE in any RACE for a period of 2 DAYS, subsequent to the RACE MEETING at which he failed to fulfil the engagement. In addition to the foregoing, a RIDER shall not ride again at any further RACE MEETING unless and until he shall have delivered to the clerk of the scales, a certificate of fitness signed by the RACE COURSE medical officer.
