After a humdinger opening last Sunday, a bumper card heralds the first Saturday meeting back at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on 2 December, with the R1 250 000 WSB Gr1 Cape Fillies Guineas the headliner. The historic race is also the first Cape Grade 1 contest of the season.
Fourteen high-class sophomores will line up in the fairer sex clash, with five visitors looking to follow in the hoofprints of the grey flyer Majmu, who was the last ‘away’ winner when scoring for Mike de Kock and Anthony Delpech in 2014.
Sean Tarry’s star Mrs Geriatrix, currently 6-1 with Hollywoodbets, will be keen to bounce back after suffering her first defeat when running fifth in the Western Cape Fillies Championship behind the progressive Rascova last time.
Mrs G has drawn 13 at her first start at the Southern Suburbs venue, while Rascova has a nice gate at 5, and should relish the step up to the mile.

Mike de Kock saddles the exciting Silver Sanctuary (6-1), a winner at her last start of the Listed Summer Pudding Handicap on her Turffontein home ground. The daughter of Silvano is drawn in midfield and looks decent value at the price.
Justin Snaith last lifted the sought-after trophy in 2017 with Snowdance.
The SA champion saddles recent Western Cape Fillies Championship runner-up Double Grand Slam, who jumps from pole position and is currently 7-2 favourite with Hollywoodbets. A R1 million National Yearling Sale purchase, she looks sure to enjoy the mile and could give Grant van Niekerk his second success after Chansonette upset the applecart in 2021.
Candice Dawson saddled Saturday’s Betway Summer Cup Consolation winner Perfect Witness and will be hoping that her William Longsword daughter Just Be Lekker can make the step up in class and to the mile. She has a tough gate to beat.
While the fillies classic will hold pride of place, the appearance of KZN star See It Again, Charles Dickens and SA Horse Of The Year Princess Calla in the R600 000 WSB Gr2 Green Point Stakes will also be a major attraction.
