Jockey Andrew Fortune is a genius in the saddle and one of the greatest jockeys this country has ever produced. So when he is not riding, extra care should be taken to inform punters.
The SA Horseracing and Tabgold websites have still not informed those spending their hard-earned money on today’s Fairview meeting that Mr Fortune will not be riding today.
The fact that all of his replacements have not been disseminated means that those that didn’t happen to hear Tellytrack presenter Alistair Cohen mention it in passing when calling declarations at about 12h15, would be none the wiser.
In fact Cohen appeared to have been informed by Fortune’s agent rather than the official channels – he mentioned something about a stiff back.
Can somebody tell us:
When did Fortune decide not to ride today?
Who informed who?
Why did nobody bother to record that on the official information websites?
How is it possible that a customer dependant industry that operates 364 days out of 365, still can’t get these basics right?
