All Systems Go For The Algoa Cup Festival!

First is due off @ 12h45

Racing takes place on the turf track at Fairview Racecourse this afternoon and it is the first day of the Algoa Cup Festival.

The main event of the day is the Listed Racehorse Owners Association Stakes which is run over 1600m.

The first is due off at 12h45.

It’s a Flashback Friday moment to the 2019 Algoa Cup Festival

The combination of Alan Greeff and Richard Fourie have a few decent winning chances and the main hope could be Unyielding in Race 3.

She was ultra-impressive when winning her last start over 1600m on this course.

She took the lead at the 500m mark, quickened up well and won with a ton in hand. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked.

She does take a rise in class but is ahead of the handicapper and she can win again.

Cold Truth from the Jurgen van Heerden stable represents decent each way value in Race 6. She was an easy winner when shedding her maiden tag over this distance on the polytrack.

She set her own fractions up front and found more to win by 2 lengths. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since.

The daughter of What A Winter is a progressive type and she has plenty of scope. She carries a handy galloping mass of 54kgs and should be up to the task at hand.

The festival continues on Sunday at Fairview.

Jockey Louis Nhlapo will not be riding today.
