Admire Main. Summerhill Stud’s young sire had his first winner at Scottsville on Tuesday.
SA Champion breeders Summerhill Stud look to be on to another winner! Their magnificently bred young sire Admire Main registered his first South African winner at Scottsville on Tuesday when Admiral’s Eye scored on her second outing at the races. She was only the second runner to represent the stallion.
After a close up fourth on debut, Admiral’s Eye was unsurprisingly backed into the red at the exclusion of the rest of the field, and after looking pressured at the 200m, asserted her authority to win a terrific race in the Maiden Juvenile Plate run over the 1200m straight.
Anton Marcus rode the winner in the same silks that were carried to victory two weeks ago in the Gr1 SA Classic by yet another Summerhill bred, in the top 3yo Love Struck . And like Love Struck, Admiral’s Eye is also trained by Paul Lafferty for Alesh Naidoo’s Fire Racing Trust.
Admiral’s Eye, who was bred by the Honourable Justice Alan Magid and Summerhill Stud , was a R340 000 buy at the 2012 Emperors Palace Ready to Run Sale.
She is out of the Elliodor mare, Surfers Eye, who has produced some good winners including the very smart Gavin Van Zyl trained Shogunnar (by Solskjaer).
Admire Main was a top-class racehorse in Japan, where he won four races including a Gr2 contest. He ran second in the Gr1 Japanese Derby and earned $2 million dollars in an illustrious career.
The only son of the American Horse Of The Year Sunday Silence ever to stand in South Africa, Admire Main made an impressive start with his first juveniles in Japan last season. Sunday Silence was a multiple Gr1 winner, numbering victories in the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness Stakes and the Breeder’s Cup Classic on an impressive cv.
Sunday Silence was a champion sire in Japan from 1995 to 2007, and is a sire of the sires of Gr1 winners.
Admire Main has just one lot on offer at the 2013 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale:
Lot 223 is a half-brother to 3 winners, including stakes winner Salutation. His dam is a half-sister to the Gr1 winner, Last Watch.
The property of Shadai Stallions and Summerhill Stud, Admire Main for a fee of R15 000.
