Summerhill’s exciting stallion A.P. Arrow (USA) struck quickly with his second winner when the handsome chestnut Flight Warning won the second race at Turffontein on Charity Mile day in smooth fashion.

The Gary Alexander trained 3yo was having only his second start and gave veteran rider Robbie Fradd the second leg of a terrific hat trick. Flight Warning is a R180 000 Ready To Run graduate.

A.P. Arrow’s daughter Flight Check was his maiden winner when scoring at Turffontein over 2600m on 19 October. Flight Check is trained by Gavin Van Zyl, and both winners were bred by Summerhill Stud.

A.P. Arrow also sired the recent stakes placed Free Flight.

A.P. Arrow went to stud in SA in 2009 after a brilliant racing career from 3 to 7 years .

He was a multiple Graded Stakes winner of US$1,480 million and is credited with five Gr1 performances, including three quality efforts behind World Champions, Invasor and Curlin.

His sire A P Indy was a prolific racehorse, and numbered amongst his victories, the Gr1 Breeders Cup Classic and the Gr1 Belmont Stakes. He is the sire of over 120 stakes winners and was twice USA Champion sire.

He is a brother to another millionaire, multiple Grade One winner Geri, and two other Stakes winners. He is bred from a 3/4 sister (by Mr Prospector) to South American sire legend, Hussonet

A.P. Arrow had a total of 23 lots catalogued on this weekend’s Emperor’s Palace Ready To Run Sale.

Ten lots went under the hammer yesterday, and the highest price of R160 000 was achieved by Lot 107, the Summerhill bred The Blue Streak. The impressive colt is out of the Alami mare, Blue Ballet, a half sister to Gr1 Champions Cup winner, Orbison.

Five of the 2yo’s were not sold, with one being a vendor buy back.

One can expect this situation to change dramatically tomorrow!

A.P. Arrow has a further 13 lots on offer on Sunday, and there should be plenty of interest.

A.P. Arrow stands at Summerhill Stud for a fee of R15 000.
