Murphy’s Law To Rule At Turffontein

This is exactly what I commented about, it's not marketed, nor sold as a travel or holiday packages. What happens before and after, we have so much to offer visitors and tourists.
I sincerely hope those involved are not only interested in horseracing, rather on how to diversify the horseracing industry.
The very best to all

KZN Racing – The New Dawn Takes Shape

This short-term money spinning turnovers have been introduced into Durban Racing before to attract horseracing owners and trainers.
In the medium and long-term it cannot sustain itself by a single sponsorship.
People come and go, so do their race horses and money. Horseracing in South Africa is a bread and butter sport focused on betting and race stakes. This model needs to be redressed.
Why do South Africans and visitors from abroad only come out in their numbers to horseracing to three meetings annually.
Same trainers, grooms, increase stakes, horses, and owners, only record attendance to these three meetings due to people's interests and entertainment. These people flirt with betting not knowing a thing about technicalities of the sport, but has a direct the turnover for all stakeholders on the day.
The bookmakers are interesting bedfellows in this industry. These three meetings directly impacts many other businesses in this city by just been service providers.
Economic growth and development projects now and in the future.
Thank you for taking the time to read my

Is the stage set for Lucky Lad ? He is priced up at 14/10 to win ! Surely another ridiculously bad price.

Make no mistake, he is a fabulous sprinter but certainly no JJ The Jet Plane, not by a long chalk. 63.5kgs to carry and 14/10 to win, no

KZN Racing – The New Dawn Takes Shape

Frankie Zackey... WELL DONE GUYS 👏 A question for Justin Vermaak... It's no secret around the racing circle that the Cape have the stronger horse flesh,, if that is the case,, then wouldn't it be fair for the KZN horses to get some sort of a allowance until such time we see better horse flesh in KZN ? If I'm a trainer raiding KZN for the season from the Cape,, I'll make sure to bring the stable cat along knowing he/she will have a much better chance of winning races in KZN in the same class race's... Surely with stake increases in KZN it will be a no brainer for out of town trainers to raid KZN more

KZN Racing – The New Dawn Takes Shape

This is very good news for KZN (and South African) racing. For too long KZN racing was an absolute sh!tshow!

The only thing that kept KZN going was their amazing winter season which brought all the top horses in the country together and made for highly competitive and exciting racing. The inter-provincial rivalry brings racing and competition to life. The best sprint jamboree is the Scotsville sprint jackpot and is always a true test.

But other than that, the rest of KZN racing is drab and uninspiring. From the poor presentation, weak handicaps, poly racing excesses, the obsession with Greyville and the generally boring experience, I so happy that the professionalism of Cape Racing will be brought to uplift the circus that is KZN racing. Cape Racing has the iconic South African events- the Guinneas (colts and fillies), the LKP, the Met, the Derby, the Cape Flyers, the Paddock and Majorca and of course the richly endowed sales races.

Maybe the Cape team can uplift KZN, get the presentation right and improve the race offer to make racing in KZN Great Again! The days of Herman Brown, Pat Shaw, David Payne, Dennis Drier, those were the hey day of KZN racing! There is hard work to fix KZN racing, but I'm confident the Cape boys will sort it

Mauritius – Better Days Could Be Set To Return

South African racing has a unique and special partnership with Mauritius racing, More importantly it's part of SADAC, AU, and want's to join BRICS+14.
Horseracing industry has huge potential for job creation, tourism, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, medical, specialised farming, training and development services, the list is not exhausted, there lies it's potential.
Horseracing needs patrons, spectators, punters, sponsorship and investors.
Horseracing must claim it's place in it's country's economic growth,
I believe every racing club has it's own rules and regulations, where the opportunity arises for people with vision to get racing people to invest in partnership with owners and trainers.
It is a sport like soccer, the modelling is different, why can't horseracing remodel itself similar to soccer championships.Cricket has followed suit. You get my drift.
Let's dream big, our thoroughbreds and breeders deserve the competition and above all its a passion not only for trainers, grooms, vets, owners, for horseracing fans as well.
In conclusion, I was disappointed to read the outcome of Andrew Fortune riding licence. They are shortsighted. They should approve his licence with conditions for a season, and then review annually. Andrew Fortune will have an opportunity to earn a living and feed his family.
Horseracing must take care of their own.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment, and appreciate those that read... read more

TCO2 Testing – Cape Trainer Vents Frustration

Sir, this is becoming too scientific, legalistic and technical for any punters (bar one or two qualified individuals) to comment. The punter is being screwed over by a number of the key stakeholders (not only with TCO2!), so I am not taking sides in this particular fight! There are many other

TCO2 Testing – Cape Trainer Vents Frustration

Thanks to all for the comments above. I, like many other owners, would rarely comment on things that we have no involvement in. So I’m sure many other (Cape) owners like me would not have weighed in when horses from other jurisdictions have been similarly passed unfit to race. But now it’s affected me, which is why I’ve responded.
My layman understanding of this whole thing is:
1. There are allegations of cheating in SA racing.
2. One of the concerns is milkshaking. Other doping and the use of performance-enhancing drugs are also of concern.
3. The vast majority of SA racing people want a clean sport - but it’s been claimed that there are some who game the system (cheat) for their own gain.
4. Blood testing is used to test for many forms of doping, but lab results take time and - from my understanding - TCO2 tests need to be done immediately due to quick metabolism.
5. The NHA introduced the TCO2 testing in an attempt to stamp out milkshaking.
All of the above does, in my opinion, appear reasonable. But the caveat, as those far more qualified than me, is that there is a concern that the equipment and/or testing methodology is wrong and the process of implementing the tests was rushed. Professor Sanne even provided scientific evidence earlier in this thread of questions regarding the veracity of the test itself.
So, as an owner who has 100% faith that neither Candice, nor any of my other trainers, administer illegal... read more

Sir I applaud you and 100% we need all owners I. This amazing sport. But the same equipment was used with Tony and Fabian and other victims and no one from the cape said anything in-fact if they did say anything it was words like milkshake and dope.

we all want clean racing. Attempting to destroy a young man's life and livelihood is not the way to achieve
