2nd Winner for Gr1-Winning Freshman Lateral
In France, Gr1-winning 8YO UK-bred and South African-based freshman stallion Lateral (Singspiel-Ligona, by Aragon) recorded his 2nd 1st-crop winner when 2YO colt Ice Cool (Lateral-Indianapolis, by Tiger Hill) scored on debut over 1300m at Vittel.

On the track, Lateral won 6 of his 10 starts (including Italy’s Gr1 Gran Criterium as a 2YO andGermany’s Gr2 Europa-Meile as a 3YO). He retired to Germany’s Gestut Fahrhof in 2008 andstood there in 2010 for €3,000; he subsequently shuttled to Maine Chance Farms in South Africa for the 2010 Southern Hemisphere breeding season and is now based here permanently. Lateral’s initial 1st-crop winner came last week at Ovrevoll in Norway when 2YO colt Cincinnatus (Lateral-Strapina, by Stravinsky) scored on debut over 900m for trainer Rune Haugen
