273 465 Through The Royal Ascot Gates

A terrific 5 days of blue chip horseracing

Guy Henderson, Chief Executive at Ascot, said after Day 5 ended on Saturday that it  had been an outstanding week of racing, with some truly world-class performances on the track.

“Nature Strip’s brilliant performance in the King’s Stand Stakes on the opening day in particular will live long in the memory and it has been fantastic to see so many international horses return to the meeting this year. We have welcomed horses and connections from eight countries in total and as well as Nature Strip’s victory we saw Spendarella finish second in the Coronation Stakes and today Artorius and Campanelle dead-heat for third in the Platinum Jubilee Stakes. Their success is a hugely important part of the meeting.

“Along with Nature Strip, we saw Baaeed, Inspiral, Kyprios, Perfect Power, State Of Rest, Naval Crown and Coroebus all produce high-class performances to win the Group 1 races against very strong competition. Our congratulations go to the leading connections of the week, including Godolphin as the leading owner, Ryan Moore as the top jockey and Aidan O’Brien who was the leading trainer.

“We were thrilled to welcome 273 465 racegoers through the gates this week and delighted to see so many people return to Royal Ascot for the first time since 2019. In January this year we announced that we were reducing capacities across the three main enclosures and this was a very conscious decision to reduce density. We hope that move has provided a more enjoyable customer experience for those who joined us.

“I would like to thank all the media, press, photographers and broadcasters from around the world who have helped showcase Royal Ascot across the globe throughout the week and of course our domestic partners ITV and Sky Sports Racing who do such a superb job for all of those watching at home.

“We had record prize money at Royal Ascot this year of £8.65m and our ambition remains to grow this in the coming years. It is hugely important that we reward the participants of our sport at the top end to maintain Britain’s place as a leading racing nation and we are doing our best to play our part in this.”
