Horse of the Year – The Legislate Team

The 2014 Cape Racing and Breeding Awards were held in the Paddock Room at Kenilworth Racecourse on Thursday, 7 August 2014.  Legislate swept all before him, taking awards for 3yo Colt, Middle Distance Horse and Horse of the Year in the Breeders categories as well as 3yo Male of the Year, Champion Middle Distance Horse of the Year and Horse of the Year in the Racing categories.

Not too far behind was the Carl and Amanda de Vos team who took home the Older Male of the Year Award for Yorker, Broodmare of the Year for Star of Arcole as well as the Outstanding Breeder of the Year award.

Jet Master reclaimed his Stallion of the Year title and Lateral stamped himself as a force to be followed, claiming the Outstanding New Stallion Award.

Klawervlei were crowned the Cape’s Breeders of the Year and Markus and Ingrid Jooste the season’s Owners of the Year.

Snaith Racing was crowed the Cape’s Champion Trainer for the second successive year and their stable jockey, Richard Fourie was named the Cape’s Champion Jockey.

The Award for exceptional achievement was jointly awarded to the Cape’s Outstanding International Horse of the Year, Variety Club and the Snaith Racing team.
