US$37,360 Million in prize money offered during exciting schedule of 11 fixtures
The 2013 Dubai World Cup Carnival (DWCC) will once again attract the greatest names in racing and the sport’s most-talented runners, as prize money of US$37,360 million will be offered during the schedule of 11 fixtures.
The renowned Dubai World Cup will conclude the DWCC as the “world’s richest day in racing” will be held on March 30, 2013 and will feature an impressive list of nine Group races that include eight events for Thoroughbreds and one Purebred Arabian race.
This will mark the second year that the Dubai World Cup will offer nine races. The Dubai Gold Cup joined the prestigious night of racing in 2012.
The list of Group races will include: “the world’s richest race” the Gr1 US$10 million Dubai World Cup, sponsored by Emirates Airline; Gr1 US$5 million Dubai Sheema Classic, presented by Longines; Gr1 US$5 million Dubai Duty Free, sponsored by Dubai Duty Free; Gr1 US$1 million Al Quoz Sprint, sponsored by Emirates NBD; Gr2 US$2 million Dubai Golden Shaheen, sponsored by Gulf News; Gr2 US$2 million UAE Derby, sponsored by The Saeed & Mohammed Al Naboodah Group; Gr2 Godolphin Mile US$1 million, sponsored by Etisalat; Gr3 US$1 million Dubai Gold Cup, sponsored by Al Tayer Motors; and the Gr1 US$250,000 Dubai Kahayla Classic for Purebred Arabians, sponsored by EMAAR.

Super Saturday will be scheduled for March 9 and once again will serve as the stellar night of prep races for many of the horses looking to compete in the Dubai World Cup, three weeks later. A total of US$1,775 million in prize money will be offered for the seven races contested that include: Gr1 US$400,000 Al Maktoum Challenge – Round 3; Gr1 US$300,000 Jebel Hatta; Gr2 US$250,000 Dubai City of Gold, Gr3 US$200,000 Mahab Al Shimaal; Gr3 US$200,000 Burj Nahaar; the Listed US$250,000 Al Bastakiya; and the Listed US$175,000 Meydan Sprint.
The Dubai World Cup Carnival programme will begin on Thursday, January 10, and will include the following dates: Jan 17, 24, and 31; Feb 7, 14, 21 and 28; March 2, 9, and the Dubai World Cup on March 30.
A total of 27 Group and Listed races will be held throughout the combined 20 race fixtures held at Meydan and include: seven Gr1 contests, 10 Gr2 events, seven Gr3 races, and 3 Listed events.
Racing at Meydan will begin on November 8, with a total of nine additional fixtures dates held before and intermixed with the Dubai World Cup Carnival. The schedule of non-DWCC dates will include: Nov 8, 22; Dec 6, 20; Jan 3, 19; Feb 2, 16; and March 14.
