This very select sale has a very alluring catalogue this year, made up of 60 horses in training hailing from renowned training establishments based in France, England, Italy and Germany.

Nearly 70% of the horses catalogued have a rating of 95 or more, making them ideal prospects for the Dubai Carnival and for top level competitions organised in Hong Kong, the United States, Australia and of course in Europe.
In recent months horses which have gone through this sale have indeed won in the aforementioned countries.
In Dubai first of all where KASSIANO and MOONWALK IN PARIS have made their mark on several occasions at Group level under the Godolphin banner; in Australia too where PUISSANCE DE LUNE has won two Group 2 races before recently finishing second in the Makybe Diva Stakes (Gr.1) at Flemington and is now one of the favourites for the forthcoming Melbourne Cup; but also in Hong Kong where the exciting sprinter CALIFORNIA BOUNTY (ex Cay Verde) has proved quite a sensation having won three times and been placed once from four starts.
A contingent of horses successfully campaigned in Germany will make the journey to Saint-Cloud.
It is made up of lot 57, EMPOLI a three-year-old colt from the family of triple Group 1 winner Elle Danzig. Very successful over 2200-2400m, this son of Halling trained by Peter Schiergen finished second in the Oppenheim Union-Rennen (Gr.2) at Cologne in mid June and then finished second again at Group 1 level in the Rheinland-Pokal run on 11 August at Munich.
Also campaigned in Germany, lot 38 ADOYA is a daughter of Doyen whose second dam Arastou is responsible for Group winners Abitara, Altano and Araldo. Highly rated by her trainer Andreas Löwe, this filly took part in the Preis der Diana (Gr.1) at Düsseldorf at the beginning of August and finished a very close third to Penelopa and Secret Gesture.
On 31 August at Baden-Baden she triumphed in the T. von Zastrow Stutenpreis (Gr.3) and will now definitely be aimed at the Prix de l’Opéra (Gr.1), which will be run on the day after the sale at Longchamp. Germany has also been the stamping ground of BEATRICE (lot 46) trained by Henri-Alex Pantall. A half sister to German Group 2 winner Belcore, this daughter of Dr Fong was already successful at two when she finished second in the Prix des Sablonnets (L.) and then
third in a Group 3 at Krefeld.
Best over a mile she has won two Group 3 races this year, first in the Karin Baronin von Ullmann Schwarzgold-Rennen on 5 May at Cologne then in the International Istanbul Trophy on 7 September this year at Veliefendi. Trained by Roland Dzubasz, LIMARIO (lot 48) was leading two year old in Germany last year thanks to an impressive victory in the Preis des Winterfavoriten (Gr.3) at Düsseldorf.
This year, this son of Areion and full brother to Australian Group 3 winner Le Roi has run out the winner of the Audi Zentrums Hannover (Gr.3) over 2000m.

The Aga Khan Studs will send three representatives currently trained by Alain de Royer-Dupré. Among these features lot 27, VALIRANN, a three year old colt who combines a superb pedigree with some good performances. Indeed, he is a half brother to Prix de Diane winner (Gr.1) Valyra and has won three times from four starts.

On 8 September this year he won his first Group race in the Prix de Lutèce (Gr.3) and put up a remarkable performance on the day over 3000 m at Longchamp, making up a lot of ground from the rear of the field to win most courageously. This son of Nayef will be sold alongside lot 29, VISIYANI, another three-year-old colt with strong physical and genetic attributes. At two, this son of Rock Of Gibraltar and the twice Group 1 placed Visionnaire won on his very first start before being placed twice at Group 3 level, first in the Prix des Chênes and then in the le Prix Thomas Bryon.
This year the grandson of Linamix won the Prix Banstar, a B race run over a mile at Maisons-Laffitte before going to the United States to take part in the Secretariat Stakes (Gr.1) at Arlington where he finished a very honourable fifth.
Next to go through the ring at Saint-Cloud will be CHALNETTA (lot 36). This three-year-old filly trained by Christophe Ferland has shown lot of tenacity from a young age and has progressed well. At the end of May in Bordeaux she picked up some heavy black type in the Derby du Midi (L.) where she proved head and shoulders above the rest.
On her first start at Group 2 level, she bagged a second place in the Prix de Malleret at Saint-Cloud before finishing in the same position again in the Prix de Pomone, not beaten far by the excellent André Fabre trained filly La Pomme d’Amour.
A winner at two, the Michael Figge trained SUPERPLEX is a lot 16 of the sale. After a successful seasonal debut in the Prix du Pré Catelan (B race) this spring at Longchamp, this three-year-old colt was targeted at the Prix Greffulhe (Gr.2) where he finished a good fourth. It was over 1800 m that he returned to the winners’ enclosure at Compiègne in the Prix Daphnis (Gr.3), easily accounting for Pilote, who has been placed twice at Group 2 level since.
Wertheimer & Frère will send two very talented older horses to the sale.
The first is lot 17 OPPOSITE, a four-year-old gelding trained by André Fabre. The son of Dansili has really come into himself this season which has ended on a high with a second place in the Grosser Dallmayr-Preis (Gr.1) over 2000 m at Munich. The second representative of the famous blue and white colours is the five-year-old SLOW PACE (lot 18), another gelding who has performed particularly well this year under the tutelage of Freddy Head. At the end of March he took the Prix de la Porte de Madrid (L.) over 2400 m at Saint-Cloud before winning La Coupe (Gr.3) at Longchamp on 10 June. On his last start, this son of Distorted Humor finished an excellent third in the Grand Prix de Deauville (Gr.2) where he was not beaten far by the first two home.
Lot 5 LAGO MINTO will be on offer from The Channel Consignment on behalf the Marquise de Moratalla. This four-year-old gelding by leading sire Galileo has just posted two very easy victories on his last two starts over 2400 m. In the Prix de Vieux Moulin (B race) at Compiègne the Alain de Royer-Dupré trained gelding finished three lengths ahead of the Group 2 placed Gentle Storm before recently winning the Grand Prix de la Ville de Craon (L.) by two lengths on 9 September.
HP_Arc13_GBIn a bid to respond to an ever increasing demand, the two-year-old section of this sale has grown considerably and 14 very exciting young horses will go through the ring on the eve of the prestigious Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. Trained by Pascal Bary MAKE IT REEL (lot 2) won first time out in the Prix Yacowlef (L.) at the end of June in Deauville before finishing fourth in the Prix d’Arenberg (Gr.3) over 1100m of the Chantilly straight on his third and last start. The daughter of Dutch Art LADY DUTCH (lot 7) for her part has run out the winner of her three starts in Italy, most notably winning the Premio Vittorio Crespi (L.) over 1200 m in Milan for her trainer Bruno Grizzetti. Trained in England by David Brown, MY CATCH (lot 47) won his maiden at Maisons-Laffitte before heading to Deauville where he showed great tenacity to win the Prix de Cabourg (Gr.3). It was also at Group 3 level that the Matthieu Palussière trained ANOTHER PARTY (lot 64) made an impression.
A winner of the Prix Saint Crespin (course B) on his third start, this son of Pomellato then finished a good second in the Prix du Bois (Gr.3) at the end of June in Chantilly followed by a third place in the Critérium du Béquet (L.) at La Teste. Last Tuesday at Chantilly he proved very hard to pass in the Prix d’Arenberg (Gr.3) where he finished second, only going down by a neck. Soon after him into the ring was lot 66, AVENTURE LOVE, a filly trained by Michel Gentile who has been second twice at Prix de la Vallée d’Auge over 1000 m at Deauville.
The catalogue also includes very recent winners such as the Bruno Grizzetti trained MUSA D’ORIENTE (lot 8) and CRISSOLO (lot 12), both unbeaten in two starts, or STORMY PARADISE (lot 21), winner of two races in five starts and trained by Brian Meehan or even
TCHEKHOV (lot 62 trained by Jean-Claude Rouget), a winner of two races from four starts.
