Leading South African owner and breeder Hassen Adams broke his personal record of twelve winners in a month, when the Silvano colt Atamasco produced the upset to win the fifth race at Clairwood this afternoon.

Starting at 18 to 1, the Maine Chance Farms bred 4yo has flourished in KZN and won his second race in a row.

Adams raced the current Varsfontein stallion and 2012 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate winner Gimmethegreenlight  and has extensive breeding interests. He won the 2011 J&B Met with Past Master.

Adams had a previous best of twelve winners in a month, and Atamasco was his thirteenth winner, on the last day of January 2013!

Cape trainer Glen Kotzen said that he was thrilled and privileged to contribute to achieving the milestone for Adams.

Kotzen, who has some of the biggest names in SA racing on his books and has a powerful string in the Cape and a sattelite yard based at Summerveld, was complimentary of his team.

“We need the small owners, but the serious investors like Hassen Adams are crucial for the future growth and survival of the sport. This is a great privilege and I am proud of our team. We have a large string and we need the correct personnel to ensure that things run like clockwork.”
